En lo que en estos momentos es el Palacio Real de la Almudaina y residencia de los reyes de España, en Palma de Mallorca en el año 123 a.c ya se hallaban los primeros restos de núcleo Romano en la ciudad de Palma de Mallorca. Cuando la isla de Mallorca fue gobernada por los musulmanes en donde en estos momentos se aloja el Palacio de L'Almudaina, construyó un verdadero Alcazar y que era la residencia habitual del gobernador de la época.
Con la reconquista de Mallorca por los catalanes sobre el año 1229 el Palacio se adecuó para que los reyes de Mallorca vivieran en él, mientras duró el reyno de Mallorca. Actualmente el Palacio Real de L'Almudaina está ocupada una parte por el Govierno Militar y otra parte como museo.
El Palau de L'Almudaina es un edificio de Planta cuadrada rodeado por altas murallas y vigilada por torres de base cuadrada en donde destaca de del Homenaje, también conocida como la del Angel, ya que contiene una figura de bronce del arcangel Gabriel antiguo patrón de la ciudad de Palma de Mallorca.
El Palacio de la Almudaina se encuentra cercano a la Seu, la catedral de Mallorca, y justo por ese lado encontramos la entrada principal del Palacio Real. Una de las mejores y más bonitas fachadas es la del Mar que no tiene el mismo sentido defensivo de toda la otra construcción.
El Patio de Honor o el Patio del Rey lo encontramos en la zona de la entrada principal, junto a la capilla de Santa Ana de estilo Gótico. De las muchas salas que encontramos dentro del Palacio Real de L'Almudaina destacan la del Tinell o la del Trono.
En el interior del Palacio encontramos otro Patio interior este es el Patio de la Reyna, de la misma belleza pero de dimensiones más pequeñas. También se pueden encontrar unos baños de época islámica.
Se puede visitar el Palacio Real de la Almudaina durante todo el año, menos el domingo que se encuentra cerrado por festivo.

Abierto de 10:00 a 13:15 y de 16:00 a 17:15 de lunes a viernes, Sábados y festivos cerrado por la tarde.
